A Spectacular Night Sky

Last night's sky was dark (until that big moon popped up) and galaxies were out; the Milky Way swooshing across the dome of the sky and Andromeda high in the northeast between the Great Square of Pegasus and Cassiopeia (binoculars made it much easier to see). They will be out a little longer with the moon rising later and later each evening as it wanes. The dark sky also made easy viewing of Jupiter's moons (again with binocs - a telescope would make them even easier). It will be mild again, get out and check it out.

Cold, clear night!

Tonight will be a good one for sky viewing, if you have a coat on. The wind may die down but it will be cold, low 20's by morning. The moon will continue to slide away  from Jupiter and into Taurus and the winter constellations as it wanes.
